Glimpse of the Heart

As a mom, I'm always wondering if my girls are listening to the encouragement and the truth pointing them to Jesus or is their mind over crowded with the pull of this world drawing their attention elsewhere?

God knows I need glimpses of His work in their life. He knows I need confirmation that His goodness is abounding in them.

He is so good, kind and thoughtful to give me a piece of that last night.

I settled in bed after a long day away from home. I really just wanted to settle in, lay next to Greg and play candy crush (ha!) But, I heard little feet walking through the living room and soon my precious 9 year old was at my bedside asking if I would lay with her. It was already 45 minutes past her bedtime. But, I know she won't ask me that for long, so I did.

I'm so glad I did.

As, I cuddled up with her I asked what she wanted to talk about and she said, "The sermon tonight." I was over joyed she wanted to discuss that. She wasn't feeling well so she went with me instead of her kids class.

She loved the pastor and his sermon. I asked what he preached about and sure enough, she was listening! "About protecting my confidence." she said.

The sermon was from 2 Timothy :14..."Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you- guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us."

When I was her age I knew God and I loved Him but I didn't know my self worth. I want so much for my girls to know they are more than this world says they are. I want them to know they aren't important because of the friends they have, the clothes they wear, where they live, or what they do or don't have. I want them to know the only thing that makes them valuable is because of  "WHOM they have believed in" (verse 12) I desperately want them to stand firm in who they are because of Who created them and Who loves them.

So, on those days when I'm just not so sure where their heart is, I can trust that God is working in them!

Colossians 1:9 "....asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding."

What prayers do you pray for your kids? What do you want them to know about this life?

Praying we all reflect Jesus in everything we do so we can raise a generation of world changers!!
